Breast implants surgery is a procedure aiming at changing the shape and size of a woman’s, or man’s breasts. It can be done for either esthetic or reconstructive design, depending on the patient. It is also a very common surgery today, offered at affordable prices and giving highly natural results.
The breast augmentation surgery lasts an average of two hours, and is performed under general anesthesia. First, small incisions are made, either along the areolar edge (peri-areolar incision), the fold under the breast (inframammary fold) or in the armpit (axillary incision). Saline or silicone-filled implants are then inserted either under the pectoral muscle or directly behind the breast tissue. If needed, the surgeon can also remove fat from the breasts area, or tighten the skin to give it a more symmetrical and ferm look.
Patients will stay at the clinic for a period of 1 to 3 days after the breast implants surgery, for daily post-surgery check ups. After the procedure, moderate pain is to be expected but can be controlled easily. Patients most of the time can go back to work a few days after the porcedure depending on their area of work. We recommend that patients wait at least 6 weeks to practice intense physical activity again. During the months following the procedure, continuous improvements will be observed.
