Being a strong woman with many qualities does not allow you to always be satisfied with your appearance. We all have a story to tell, here is mine for those who don’t believe in changes and the links between loving each other and moving forward.
All my life I have suffered from obesity, a problem that many people experience. With obesity came uncomfortable situations such as bullying and health issues. I weighed over 300 pounds, and with all the special diets and treatments I tried, I could lose a few pounds, but the next month I was gaining them back, even more. Depression was knocking on my door, but I kept fighting with the help of my family’s support.
Then one fine day I made the decision was to go to Cuba to undergo a (bariatric surgery). Despite the risks, I was ready to do anything to find myself beautiful. I lost 150 pounds, and of course I had to deal with the excess skin caused by the weight loss. Looking at myself in the mirror, I said to myself, “I can’t give up now!
Bariatric surgery has many advantages. I solved my diabetes problem and I am able to control my blood pressure. My health was better. What was my next step?
Plastic surgery! I knew the surgery could be very expensive in North America, so I decided to look into other countries to see if I could afford it. I have had cosmetic surgeries in Mexico City and Havana, Cuba. Since then, my life has changed years and for the better. I feel beautiful, I feel up to my aspirations and I hope to help many women like me to have access to lower cost surgical care that is inaccessible to them in Canada.
